This project is grounded in my family’s history and the legacy of Bengal’s partition during India’s independence. Along the India-Bangladesh border, enclaves and narrow strips of land lie outside the border fence, where many Indian citizens, including my uncle and his family, continue to live rather than sever their ties to their ancestral land. My parents also grew up in this region before moving inland for our education.
The project documents the lives of these communities, their resilience, their constraints, and their enduring relationship to a land that both sustains and confines them.
